We have reason to believe that the integrity of certain consumers’ personal information submitted to the DHI
Mortgage Prequal site prior to February 11, 2012 may have recently been compromised due to a data security breach.
DHI Mortgage has already contacted law enforcement and continues to work with them as they investigate the matter.
DHI Mortgage has taken immediate steps to remedy the breach and implement revised online security measures.
DHI Mortgage is notifying those customers whose personal information may have been affected by various means,
including email and letters. If you received such an email or letter, we encourage you to follow the instructions in the notice.
DHI Mortgage is also offering a one-year membership to Experian’s ProtectMyIDTM Alert product at no charge to consumers who may have been impacted. If activated:
• your credit report would be monitored daily by Experian for 50 leading indicators of identity theft,
• you would receive daily, 3 bureau credit monitoring, including timely Credit Alerts from ProtectMyID on any key changes in your credit report,
• you would be provided with powerful identity protection that would help detect, protect and resolve potential identity theft,
• in the case that identity theft were detected, ProtectMyID would assign a dedicated U.S.-based Identity Theft Resolution Agent to assist in fraud resolution,
• you would receive a free copy of your Experian credit report,
• you would be immediately covered by Identify Theft insurance that could help you cover certain costs including, lost wages, private investigator fees, and unauthorized electronic fund transfers.
